Posted 12/09/2015 10:08AM

The RB Middle School invited Dr. Thalia Arawi, Founding Director of the Salim El-Hoss Bioethics & Professionalism Program, Clinical Bioethicist and founding member of the Child Protection Program at the American University of Beirut & Medical Center and Dr. Leyla Akoury-Dirani, Clinical psychologist at the Child and Adolescent Program-Psychiatry Department and Director of the Child Protection Program at AUBMC, to give a presentation on child protection and safety to both faculty and parents. The presentation was followed by a Q & A session. Teachers and parents were guided to a comprehensive understanding of child abuse. They were then offered tips to identify it and act and/or report accordingly. As part of an awareness campaign and an element of teachers’ professional development, the lecture ultimately serves the objective of the college to provide a safe and secure environment for its students.
