ALUMNI NETWORK

The AGC Alumni Network is a lifelong platform that connects graduates of the Ali Ghandour Center to one another and to International College, fostering continued collaboration, mentorship, and impact beyond graduation. Launched as a milestone initiative, the network brings together AGC alumni now studying at leading universities worldwide with IC leadership and the AGC Board, creating a space to revive and expand student-led projects rooted in real-world challenges and community engagement. Through this network, IC reinforces its commitment to leadership as a continuous journey, empowering alumni to remain engaged, purpose-driven changemakers who carry AGC’s values into their academic, professional, and civic lives.

AGC Changemakers Circle

Harnessing AI for Positive Change
The AGC successfully launched the Changemakers Circle with Sherif Maktabi, an AI product leader and award-winning product coach and advisor, as the inaugural speaker. The session was held on March 26th, 2025, at the Imad Taher Auditorium and was announced to all secondary school students, thereby maximizing participation beyond the AGC cohort.
During his presentation, Sherif Maktabi highlighted how artificial intelligence can be harnessed to drive positive change and empower community-impacting projects. His insights inspired students to consider how technology can be a powerful tool for shaping a better future, encouraging them to think critically and creatively about their role in solving societal challenges.

Karim Barake From IC to Boston University
As part of the AGC Changemakers Circle, an ongoing speaker series designed to inspire curiosity, real world engagement, and active citizenship, open to all IC high school students, the AGC was glad to host IC alumnus Karim Barake, Class of 2022, on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026.
Currently studying Ophthalmology at Boston University, Karim shared his journey from IC to Boston University, highlighting the skills and values he developed during his time at IC and how they shaped his social awareness and adaptability. He reflected on how his learning at IC helped him explore his passion and purpose, encouraging him to apply his interests toward creating meaningful impact within his community.
Motivated by this purpose, Karim has collaborated with AGC students over the past two years through his project, Ouyouna, which aims to increase access to vision care for students in Lebanese public schools using the PocDoc web based screening tool. Through discussion and reflection, students engaged with the realities of implementing community initiatives and the possibilities of alumni giving back to IC through collaborative projects.
