Informative session at IC tomorrow

Dear Members of our IC Community,

In response to the reported case of Coronavirus in Lebanon, the IC leadership has been meeting with Doctor Sharara - who consults both at AUB and at IC - to devise a plan of action. This plan is coherent with the directives of the Ministry of Education.

Over the weekend, the two campuses and buses have been thoroughly disinfected and fumigated; this includes but is not limited to the cafeteria, the classrooms, the gymnasium, desks, keyboards, doorknobs, toilet seats, faucets etc. We will continue to disinfect the two campuses and buses on a daily basis until further notice.

Tomorrow, first thing in the morning, Dr. Shahara and his team will meet with the directors to review all safety procedures. Directors will in turn meet with teachers and all staff members to communicate these recommendations.

Please note that 1st and 2nd period classes will not meet tomorrow. The first class will meet at 9:20 am (corresponding to the 3rd period for the middle and secondary schools). All teachers teaching the 3rd period class will start with an information session on the virus and protective measures to be followed at school and elsewhere.

Please note that the campus will be open to students starting at 9:00am tomorrow; bus pickup will take place accordingly.

Please find attached a pamphlet designed by AUBMC that teachers will be using as a basis for their presentations to the students. These presentations will, obviously, be adapted to the age group. The measures presented apply to a household environment as a well as a classroom.

We thank you for your cooperation and will keep you abreast of further developments in the situation and of the subsequent modifications in protective measures that IC will take.

Stay safe,

Joel Peinado

IC President
