Dear Members of the International College Community,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to inform you that Joel Peinado has decided to step down as president of International College at the end of his contract at the close of the 2023-2024 school year. Joel has contributed significantly to IC during his time with us, and we appreciate his continued engagement and willingness to work with us on a smooth transition over the next year as we conduct a search for his successor.
Trustee John McCarthy, who has been named chair of the search committee, will begin the recruiting process in collaboration with Carney, Sandoe & Associates. We are committed to IC’s mission, and to building on the school’s culture, momentum and reputation for helping our students reach their intellectual, creative, moral, and physical potential.
These have been difficult and trying times for our school and community. Under Joel’s guidance we have continued to produce academically flourishing students that have been accepted at many of the world’s best universities. Joel helped us navigate successfully through remote learning and COVID. With his oversight, we
just completed one of the last major enhancements to our Ras Beirut campus with the opening of our new Pre-School building. We are now in the process of writing a strategic plan to guide the school into the future. In our search, we will be looking for a new president who is both an educational leader and an effective administrator with experience executing strategic plans.
You will have a chance to hear from Joel throughout the next year and half and, of course, you will have plenty of opportunities to thank him for his many contributions to IC and to wish him well for the future.
The Board of Trustees and the Administration will be working closely during the transition, and you can be confident that IC will remain in good hands.
We look forward to keeping you updated with the progress of the search for a new president.
