The whole of the Ras Beirut Elementary were very enthusiastic to plant trees in the Ba’abda forest. This worthwhile project goes a long way to helping the area in its reforestation effort particularly after the recent fires. It also goes some way towards assisting Lebanon as a whole be greener and more aesthetically pleasing, perhaps helping us imagine what the country was like centuries ago. A buddy system was organized, whereby older students were matched with younger students; for example a Grade 5 student paired up with a Grade 1 student for their visit. This buddy work was really successful both for planting trees as well as on many social levels. The students enjoyed touching “Mother Earth” and there is no doubt Ba’abda will invite us once again to plant trees in the future. Long may this wonderful project continue.
