About the ERC
In order to maintain the high standard of its educational programs, I.C. offers its faculty and staff a variety of opportunities, locally and abroad, to advance their knowledge and skills, enhance their teaching effectiveness and promote professional growth. Toward that end, the Educational Resource Center organizes an extensive program of professional development activities every year based on curricular and instructional initiatives at I.C. Some of those activities are presented on campus by I.C. teachers and administrators, resource persons from neighboring universities or consultants from abroad. Other activities include specialized workshops held abroad or in Lebanon attended by I.C. faculty.
The focus of professional development in recent years has been the International Baccalaureate (IB), the IB Primary Years Program (PYP), and the new Lebanese Curriculum, the integration of information technology into the learning process, the introduction of performance-based learning and assessment, and the development of an all-I.C. curriculum framework.
Faculty is also encouraged to advance their professional growth through degree programs and other forms of continuing university study. Such initiatives receive tuition support from the College.
Another important function of the ERC is the collection and maintenance of a comprehensive library of educational references in varied media.
