LMC (Library Media Center)

    The LMC is THE library for advanced research at IC. Head Librarians have strived to build a library which offers something for everyone’s reading and research needs. Aside from an impressive collection of current and authoritative books, which is constantly being enriched with new sources, the library is home to over 90 magazines, journals and newspapers in English, French and Arabic. The LMC boasts a huge video collection of over 2000 titles in English, French and Arabic. Teachers, Upper Middle and Secondary School students are allowed to borrow from the video collection. Our nonfiction collection is currently around 6000 titles, with just over 1300 fiction titles. The crowning glory of our research collection is our integrated webpage of online sources: Catalog, Student Resource Center, Repère. Coupled with our CD-ROM collection, these online databases give students access to our books and videos, plus thousands of full-text articles in English and French on every topic imaginable.

The first person you will meet as you enter the LMC is MS. Georgina, who is in charge of circulation. See Ilham for borrowing books, videos and magazines. Georgina catalogs all magazines and processes all newspapers. Any questions about periodicals should be addressed to Georgina. Teachers should book classes in the library through Georgina, after discussing the project idea with the Head Librarian. Students and teachers can purchase computer diskettes (500LL) and photocopying cards (10,000LL) at the Circulation Desk.
 

Leila Kaidbey is the Librarian who specializes in cataloging Arabic items. Teachers who wish to order items in Arabic should speak to Leila. Cooperative library projects involving Arabic sources should be planned with Leila and booked out through Ilham at the Circulation Desk.

Miled Makhoul is the Librarian who specializes in cataloging French items. Teachers who wish to order items in French should speak to Miled and the Head Librarian. Projects ideas for the French programme should be discussed with the Head Librarian and Miled.

Rola Sakr is the Librarian responsible for cataloging English books and videos. Rola is available for cooperative planning with Middle School teachers, especially for projects involving the LMC. Students interested in becoming library helpers should see Rola for training. Rola Sakr should be contacted for cooperative planning in English.
