      The program consists of a wide variety of workshops to be offered by I.C. teachers and administrators at Marjoyoun National College, Saturday, October 26, 2002.

 

      This program is in line with the commitment of International College and its Educational Resources Center to high quality education which it seeks to share with schools throughout Lebanon.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

 

 

1 -Leadership in Schools

Mrs. Marie-Christine Mojabber Mourani, Senior Vice President

 

This workshop will:

·        Outline the attributes and characteristics of effective leaders

·        Examine eight leadership actions that are necessary to bring about change in our schools

·        Analyze the concept of school culture and how to define it

·        Identify three most pressing issues or problems facing our schools

 

NOTE: The duration of this workshop will only be 2.5 hours, from 9:00 to 11:30 am.

 

Audience:  Administrators and Teachers

 

 

 

  2 -Teaching English Language through Literature

Miss Feryal Irani, English Department, Secondary School

 

The objective of this workshop is to show how literary selections (verse and prose) may be used in teaching language (grammar, sentence structure, punctuation, word formation, word order, etc) in order to enhance comprehension and writing skills.

Audience: Secondary and Middle School English Teachers

3 -Transformations in Mathematics

Dr. Mohamad Monem , Chair of the Math Department, Secondary School

 

According to the new Lebanese curriculum, a preliminary notion of transformations is given at the upper middle level, and then the topic is treated in detail at the secondary level.  This workshop will tackle the right approach to this new topic at these two levels. 

 

Audience: Secondary and Middle School Math Teachers

 

  4 -Cooperative Learning vs. Frontal Teaching

Mrs. Nabila Hamadeh, Chair of the English Department, Middle School

 

This workshop will focus on different cooperative learning methods. Also, it will highlight the merits/demerits of frontal teaching and of cooperative learning. Participants will design their own lesson plans based on the methods taught in the workshop.

Note: Participants need to have their textbooks with them.

5 -Using Inquiry to Develop and Evaluate Science Process Skills

 Miss Rima Khishen, Science Department, Middle School

 

This workshop exposes teachers to simple inquiry-based activities that can be used to promote students' learning. Focus is on strategies that make assessment authentic and more skill oriented.

 

Audience: Middle School Science Teachers

 

 

6 -Study Skills in Learning Mathematics

Mrs. Rola Younes Sleiman, Math Department, Middle School

 

Through a practical presentation the workshop explores some skills such as constructing and interpreting graphic organizers, interpreting written and visual aids, and test taking skills, and encourages students to use them in learning mathematics.

 

Audience: Middle School Math Teachers

 

7 - Planning and Organizing Tools for Reading & Writing

Mrs. Randa Soubaih, Chair of the English Department, Elementary School

This workshop exposes teachers to a variety of graphic organizers that students can use both as tools for reading comprehension and for the planning of their written assignments.

 

Audience: Middle School and Upper Elementary English Teachers

 

 

8 -Managing a School Day at the Preschool

Mrs. Randa Khoury, Director, Preschool

Mrs. Ghada Maalouf, Assistant to the Director, Preschool

 

The objectives of this workshop are to equip the teachers with plans, tools and strategies to help them manage their demanding school day. Planning entails classroom setting, content, material, teaching strategies, evaluation and reporting to all parties involved in the student's life.

 

Audience: Preschool Teachers

 

 

 9 -Paper in Art: Basic Techniques Applicable to all Levels

Miss Carine Arayssi, Art Department, Middle & Secondary School

Mrs. Sana Maalouf, Preschool

 

Throughout this workshop, participants will be exposed to different techniques for the use of paper in Art.  Hands-on activities will include: collage, mosaic, simple folding, "papier mâché", weaving and recycling.

 

Audience: Art Teachers

 

 

10 -Basic Art Concepts at Your Finger Tips !

  Mrs. Samia Boulad, Head of the Art Department

 

 Participants will be exposed to the importance of creativity and free expression in the stages of development of the student from K-12. Then a variety of art terms as well as a historical sequence of art styles will be displayed through a slide show. Finally, different techniques will be demonstrated using a variety of media through hands-on activities.

 

Audience: Art Teachers/ Classroom Teachers

 

 

11 -L'interdisciplinarité thématique et méthodologique

 M. Roger Nabaa, coordinateur de Français

 

L'interdisciplinarité peut être comprise thématique et alors il faudra apprendre à l'élève que la réalité peut être cernée selon le discours qu'il appréhende. Elle peut être comprise méthodologique et alors il faudra apprendre à l'élève comment les mêmes types d'approches traversent les disciplines.

12 - L'enseignement actif du français dans les classes francophones

M. Charles Tabet, école élémentaire

 

Acquérir la maîtrise de la langue pour un enfant, c'est d'abord la pratiquer dans les situations variées et l'utiliser pour répondre à des besoins multiples, notamment ceux qu'imposent les disciplines autres que le français.

13 -L'utilisation de la presse en classe de langue

M. Antoine Boulad, Director of Upper Elementary and Middle School, Ain Aar

 

L'objectif de ce stage est d'inciter les enseignants à ouvrir leur classe de langue à la presse et à les rendre capable de manipuler ce puissant outil.  Des activités pratiques et ludiques d'une grande variété seront présentées qui se rapporteront à de nombreuses disciplines telles que la grammaire, l'expression orale, la production écrite, l'écriture poétique, l'éducation à la citoyenneté...

 

NB: Les participants devront avoir lu le supplément de l'Orient-Le Jour "Les Copains" qui paraîtra le Samedi 16 Octobre.

14 - Introduction de la géométrie au cycle élémentaire (CP-CE1-CE2)

L'objectif de ce stage est de familiariser davantage les enseignants avec des activités pratiques et ludiques de géométrie qui seront d'un grand intérêt pour les élèves ainsi que différentes sortes d'évaluation : évaluation basée sur l'observation et autoévaluation.

15 - تدريس اللغة العربية والأدب في المرحلة الثانوية بحسب المناهج الجديدة

الأستاذ حمدي حولا، منسق اللغة العربية

 

نستعرض الكفايات المنصوص عنها في أدلة التقويم، ومن ثم يتم العمل على النصوص انطلاقاً من الكفايات المشار اليها بحيث يتوجه المعلم في عمله بحسب المناهج الجديدة صوب الكفاية تعريفاً وفهماً وامتلاكاً. ويراعى في اختيار نصوص المشغل السنوات الثلاث الثانوية مع التركيز على السنة الأولى الثانوية لأنها أساسية في هذه المرحلة.

16 - الامتحان الرسمي في ضوء الكفايات وأساليب التعبير

 يتضمن هذا المشغل أبرز الكفايات في المجال الكتابي ووضع أسئلة على نص لمحاكاة الامتحان الرسمي مع الإجابات ومقياس التصحيح والتقويم. كما يتناول شرحا للمقاييس الفنية للبحث  والتقرير، و" التعبير الكتابي " في ضوء النمط  الملائم له .

17 - مسائل في تدريس الجغرافيا والتربية في المرحلة الثانوية

السيدة فاطمة طه، دائرة العلوم الاجتماعية، المدرسة الثانوية

 

الجغرافيا: الترابط والتكامل في المنهاج بين الثانوي الأول والثانوي الثالث من خلال دراسة محور في الثانوي الأول ومقارنته مع محور في الثانوي الثالث وتحضير نموذج لامتحان.

التربية: مخطط نموذجي لدراسة محور وما يتخلله من مستندات ومصطلحات ومفاهيم. كما يتضمَن المشغل إنتاج نصّ ونماذج امتحانات.

18 -تدريس الاجتماعيات بين الطريقتين الكلاسيكية والناشطة

عرض لدرس عملي في الإجتماعيات و تحديد الفروقات الأساسية بين الطريقتين الكلاسيكية والناشطة  في الأداء من خلال المعارف،  والقدرات والمهارات.

19 - كيف نحضر المتعلم لدرس التربية الوطنية والتنشئة المدنية

 تتناول ورشة العمل هذه  عرض طرائق لمساعدة المتعلم على استيعاب وتحليل وتطبيق ما درسه في التربية الوطنية وذلك من خلال اكتسابه تقنيات عملية مثل عادات العمل ، ضبط الوقت ، الحفظ من خلال كتابة رؤوس اقلام ، الوظائف المنزلية ، وإجراء الامتحانات.

20 - مئة فكرة وفكرة لتعزيز التعبير الكتابي للحلقتين الثانية (الابتدائية) والثالثة (المتوسطة)

يتضمن هذا المشغل مجموعة نشاطات كتابية فريدة من نوعها ومميزة، تساهم في تطوير مستوى اللغة العربية عند المتعلم وتحسينها بطريقة محببة وطريفة وقريبة من عالمه اليومي.

21 - تنويع طرائق القراءة واكتساب المفردات

السيدة غادة عيتاني، دائرة اللغة العربية،  المدرسة المتوسطة

 

الهدف من ورشة العمل هذه هو الإطلاع على أساليب مختلفة خاصة بالقراءة وباكتساب المفردات وذلك عبر أنشطة عملية متنوعة.

22 - النصوص التواصلية/أيا يكن كتابنا

السيدة أليسارأبي حيدر، دائرة اللغة العربية، عين عار

 

تتناول ورشة العمل هذه تقنيّات متنوّعة وأنشطة متعّددة مرتبطة بنصوص تواصليّة (قراءة صورة، وصفة طعام، بطاقة دعوة، رسالة...) تسمح للمعلّم بمقاربة هذه النصوص مقاربة "حيويّة" ومنشطة " بقطع النظر عن سلسلة الكتب المعتمدة.

23 - أدب الاطفال في مرحلة رياض الاطفال

السيدة سمر سالم و السيدة فلك رنو، الروضات

 

الهدف من هذه الورشة هو تحبيب الأطفال باللغة العربية من خلال القراءة.  نسلّط الضوء على أهمية استخدام القصة كوسيلة لذلك بالاضافة الى الأشعار والأغاني والنصوص المتنوعة.  تتضمن الورشة عرض أنشطة عملية تطبيقية والعمل ضمن فرق صغيرة.
