Brain Compatible
Dance Education

A Program of six sessions

Nov. 15 and Dec. 13, 2008

Jan. 10 & 17, Feb. 21 and March 28, 2009

The Educational Resources Center at International College is happy to offer a series of workshops on Brain Compatible Dance Education presented by Mrs. Randa Sabbah, Head of the music department at I.C.

Brain compatible dance education is a conceptual approach to dancing. In this concept-based approach, students learn the elements and principles of dance through a variety of learning processes: perceiving, understanding, doing, creating and valuing. This is contrary to the traditional approaches to dance which are based on learning steps, competitive in nature and selective.

The goal of conceptual creative dance is to COMMUNICATE through movement. During the sessions, the emphasis will be on exploring the concept of dance in order to develop the art of self expression.  Dancers will not learn routines; the focus is on the process not the product.
